My son recently got interested in stamp collecting when I showed him my collection from when I was in high school. My idea involves creating a website that allows people to sign up and indicate the types of stamps they are interested in - by country, category, time period, etc.) - and then search for others with similar interests to start trading stamps with. One concern I have with online stamp trading is that a lot of kids would be interested, so the site would need to have many security layers built in. One basic premise is that addresses and personal information would not be shared among members. Members would initiate all transactions through the site, which would act as the central clearing house. One issue that needs to be worked out is how members would mail stamps to each other without knowing the other person's address, but the solution to that problem is probably another idea. This idea could apply equally as easily to other collectibles.

Here is a link to an idea for solving the mailing issue: http://goodorgreatidea.com/content/snail-mail-forwarding

Value Proposition / Benefits:

I've come across many sites where individual offer to trade with others, as well as sites where they sell stamps, but my quick search did not reveal any trading posts or exchanges for stamps. This site could have worldwide appeal and ideally would be marketed worldwide to unleash the full potential of trading for stamps from exotic countries. Revenue could be generated through membership fees and advertising. It is possible one or more of the stamp collecting companies would be interested in this idea
